Sometimes You Just Have to Wait....

Not My Will, But Yours.....

In 2012, while applying for the "Teachers for Global Classrooms" program, we were asked to choose three destinations. My first choice was Ghana, my second Brazil, and I don't even remember my third choice because I didn't really want to go there anyway.  I do remember that I was not granted any of the three.  In fact, most people did not get their choices and we wondered why we had to go through that exercise.

We were not to find out our destination until several months later, so in the meantime, I researched Ghana, even posted on facebook that I was headed there as if I knew this for a fact.  It turned out that I was happy to have had India chosen for me; it was a beautiful country.  I, unlike many others, did not have to take any time off from work in order to go because I got to travel in the summer.  I got to stay three weeks versus the two weeks that my other fellow cohorts traveled.  I received a larger stipend due to the amount of time that I was to travel.  In other words, God was in charge.

As he is now.  Having done all the research on Ghana, it did not go to waste.  The group that did go to Ghana featured one educator from Philly who took a sabbatical to go back and live there for seven months.  Bonnee, the educator, put out an open invitation for any of her peers to come and visit "the motherland" as she affectionately refers to it as. It was preordained that I would hear that invitation....I will now get to visit the ex-pat proprietor of "One Africa" resort that I corresponded with when I "just knew" that I was going in 2012, see the shoreline that our ancestors saw before coming to this new world,  see Cape Coast castle, visit some boys and girls schools, and visit the city of Accra, amongst other surprises I'm sure. I'm on my way!
